BASE Jumping is the act of packing a parachute to jump off a stationary object, such as a building or a mountain. B.A.S.E. stands for Buildings, Antennas, Spans(bridges), Earth(mountains).
Whether jumping, crashing, or being thrown, objects & characters traveling loudly through windows never ceases to be entertaining.
The act of using your buddy as a platform to reach higher ground or cover more distance.
To jump from a great height with a long elastic cord attached to the ankles.
A tactic commonly found in first-person shooters which involves a player jumping repeatedly.
Fish that shoot out of the water with great speed in Super Mario Bros. If not jumping through the sky, they can be found in the oceans of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Leaping fish-bot foes of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Climbing is a common tradition in games, particularly platformers. There is often a particular type of surface that can be climbed, and it has a recognizably different look than other surfaces in the game. Climbing ladders or stairs doesn't count.
CQC and CQB are close range combat techniques.
A style of game that has platforming elements, but with more emphasis placed on fighting enemies than precise maneuvering through the level and its obstacles. Notable examples include Ratchet & Clank and early Ninja Gaiden games.
Crouch Jumping is an action performed in FPS games in which the player crouches mid-jump in order to hurdle an obstacle or reach higher ground.
Usually done for stylistic purposes, these characters or objects lack limbs connecting their hands or wheels or other extremities to their body. The resulting appendage merely floats in mid-air in a mildly disturbing way.
The act of jumping into the air and hitting the prone button. This causes the player to snap down onto the ground, making them much harder to hit.
A double jump is the ability to jump while already in mid-air to get some extra lift. In reality, double jumps are not possible and violate fundamental laws of physics.
Fighter Flies are enemies from the Mario series. They hop back and forth while flapping their wings.
Platforming from the character's point of view.
The character kicks his feet while he jumps to increase horizontal movement.
A frog is a small and usually green amphibian that can swim, hop, and ribbit. Sadly, most of them aren't princes.
The act of throwing a grenade at one's feet to get to a higher place.
The Gria are a Race in Final Fantasy Tactics A2, hailing from the world of Ivalice. They can fly for short distances, thus bypassing the “Jump” stat.
The Grimp is the type of creature a player controls in PixelJunk Eden.
The ground pound is a move where a person in midair somehow makes themselves strike the ground with more force than if they had merely landed. Popularly known as the "butt stomp" due to Super Mario 64's variant, which appeared as though Mario was attacking foes with his rear end.
Hammer Bros. are a species of Koopa that throw hammers at plumbers.
Any game that involves jumping on an enemy's head as an attack, such as in Super Mario Bros.
Hopping Chinese vampires that suck life force.
This is a concept in fighting or other action games of attacking an enemy in order to keep the enemy in the air, unable to fight back. This is also a tactic in tower defense games of keeping the enemy on the battlefield longer by manipulating towers.
Jumping puzzles are generally implemented in fast-paced action games as a way to slow down the progress of the player. Failure often results in certain death.
Kumo is a hopping spider enemy that appears in Super Mario Land.
When the player/enemy leap towards the enemy/player, effectively dealing damage in the same turn.
Fish that are just as dangerous out of water as they are in it.
