I know I am late to the party having never played Just Cause 1, and just buying 2 a few days ago. With that being said WOW, how did I not hear more about this game, it's great. It's huge! Fun! With what seems like a lot to do and flying jets in this is a blast. This game is simply amazing, and it came out last year but you couldn't tell that, looks like a game you could have released this year and never know.
I guess what I am getting to is how does the 2nd one compare to the first one in terms of overall I know the graphics are clearly better being on the new platform where 1 was one the last ones. And my second question is, when the hell does the 3rd one come out!? (might be early on the 3rd one with news and such but still, if they make one I will be buying it as soon as it comes out.)
Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 WOW!
@bioblood22: Welcome to the party! Just Cause 2 was my major game I played last summer, truly amazing fun like you said yourself (even if the story and voice acting was terrible). All I know is that it's a swedish developer behind the game, and they've said nothing more about a third game except that they'll most likely make one. That was months ago they said that though, so I guess it's either in early development or they've kept it hidden for everyone.
Fingers crossed it's as good / better than Just Cause 2!
At first I didn't like the game because I thought it was unfocused or more precisely I just didn't "get it" at first. I tried to like it so I just started messing and then I spent a hour flipping cars on a bridge. Its a really fun game and a really good looking game. I think they are making a third game but the same studio is also working on a Mad Max game so it might be a while.
Well having been let down with games like La Noire (replay value) and Dragon Age 2 (where do I start) I bought JC2 because I love sandbox/open world games and down right crazy ass fun in them. I bought it for like 30 bucks not really expecting to much and them BAM! kick ass-ness ensues and so far it's the best/most fun game I've bought all year, with most of my REALLY WANTING games coming the later year and early 2012.
I haven't bought a game in a long time I bought saying "well I'm bored and this is cheap-ish let's see how this is" and then be blow the fuck away by it. So glad to see that can still happen.
I'm playing the game as we speak just flying around in my little black jet pissing off the gov. by hanging in their air space them making them look like fools as I fly away, I was using that winter cam-o assault heli. but kept getting taken out.
Um yea....just lost my kick ass little black jet due to some freaky ass bright tower light flash on a smaller island ....WTF!
Welcome to the club :) Just Cause 2 wins the "mind=blown" award of the last decade
such a GOOD FUCKING GAME
I often spend like 2 hours on it before jumping to something else like ME2 or DS2 (Mass Effect 2 - Dead Space 2) But I do find the game fun, running, flying, riding, boating around checking out places.
I couldn't play this game the right way; I only had fun slingshotting around, blowing stuff up, and attaching things together. Once I started trying to do the missions I got frustrated and stopped playing. Maybe I'll go back to it soon, but I've got so many games in my backlog...
That reminds me; Bioshock 2 is not very good. I don't think I'll be getting through that one.
Really, I've been meaning to buy the Bioshock games but things keep coming out and I just get them so I haven't gotten to it. But I find JC2 to be a pretty good game aside from the horrible VA's I rather enjoy it. The missions do fall short of great and maybe even good, but some of the side missions are pretty fun but to each their own.
@kingzetta: A hassle? Really? I don't think the game is playable if you sit down and try to go at it for 5+ hours it's more a short burst kinda game but at no point has it felt like a hassle to me, that's just my personal opinion so take that for what it's worth.it took 20 minutes by jet to get anywhere.
The more I play them, the more I'm convinced Just Cause 2 and Saints Row 2 are actually the best open world titles we have.
Saints Row 2 I think is underrated, that's just my thought on that. JC2s' world is HUGE, and looks great, it's a game built for screen shots. Once you get weapons unlocked and leveled up and get your armor/health leveled up and some money in the bank the game become far more fun than when you just start playing it, sure the enemies keep getting harder as you get better but I think that makes it even more fun. So I would put JC2 up there in the "Best Open World" category.
Dude you can surf a tank down a snow capped Malaysian mountain all the way to the beach all while hearing NPCs talk, shout and scream in Singlish. That's one crazy game.
JC2's world is indeed gigantic - just over 1 square megameter, roughly 25 times the size of Oblivion's (and Skyrim's, presumably) world, for example. It'd easily be too big if it weren't so easy to get around on a whim via the grappling hook and parachute.
Just Cause 2 is a freaking great game. I've had far more fun with it than I ever did with GTA (although from a story standpoint it is not nearly as good).
I grabbed in on Steam when it was dirt cheap. Just plug in a 360 controller into your PC and have a blast!
Hey to me JC2 is a great game even with it's flaws. It's a game I'll keep in my collection for sometime. JC2 has made me a JC3 hawkeye as now I can't wait for the 3rd one.

I'm going to be different and say that i hated Just Cause 2. Like, I really, really hated it. Boring/repetitive missions, tedious traveling, and offensively terrible voice acting. Fun. ...it is pretty, though
This.

I must have missed where there was a tank in JC2.

All that space filled with so much copy pasta.
