An Exploding C4 of Fresh Air

Just Cause 2 really begins to come together after plummeting 3,000 feet from a zeppelin based strip club, releasing your parachute and then grappling onto a passing helicopter, hijacking it, and then crashing it into oncoming police cruisers at ground level. In other words, the game if outrageous and fun. Admittedly, it has some open world jank, but at its core the game is solidly built and entertaining to play. Controls tend to be easy to master, and once one learns how to grapple and release the parachute in tandem, the game really opens up. Driving is a bit loose, but that is a small detriment. It also helps that the game is, simply, beautiful. Snowy peaks, river deltas, city skylines, and windy deserts are all brought beautifully to life. Explosions are also quite good. The voice-acting and storyline in the game are strange and nonexistent, respectively. It sometimes took me away from what I was doing, and became more about "what can I destroy next," and less about why I was destroying it. Furthermore, the game is huge. It takes almost 20 minutes to fly crosswise over the island, and there are over 350 settlements, bases, islands, villages and other locations to find and create 'Chaos' (the games motivation for doing crazy things and the barometer of how close one is to unlocking the next mission). Just Cause 2 is a massive, gorgeous, fun romp...and it reminds me of what videogames used to be like, it does have some issues though, which after extensive playtime become apparent. Definitely a rent, and possibly a buy for some players out there.

Ridiculous B-Movie: The Video Game 0

Just Cause 2 brings back that basic idea that seems to be gone missing from some video games today, fun. Throw some C4 onto a motorbike, tie it to a chopper and drop it on an enemy base. These dumb silly ideas that the player comes up with is the magic behind Just Cause 2 and even with the slight bump here and there, it all ties up to tight little package.   The smooth opearator himself, Rico Rodriguez.  Returing from the original, you are Rico Rodriguez., CIA Agent and slick Latin lover. Just Cause 2 Review 0

Just cause 2 is an open world game that delivers on what it promised: parachutes, grappling hooks and lots of flambuoyant, silly, and over-the-top action. The game plays to it's strengths, and seldom will you feel forced into something you don't want to do. In Just Cause 2 you play as CIA agent Rico Rodriguez, (aka the Scorpion) as he drives, flies, skydives, parachutes and grapples around a small, fictional South Asian island country called Panau. Throughout the game, Rico is working for three...
