    Overview

Jyggalag is the Daedric Prince of Order in the Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles. He is the antagonistic force throughout the expansion pack, serving as a counterpart to the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath. Jyggalag is actually the true form of Sheogorath, but due to Jyggalag's extreme power and knowledge, he was cursed by the other Daedric Princes to stay in Sheogorath's form for almost the entirety of each era. There are only short times, known as the Greymarch, where Jyggalag is able to return to his true form, and destroy Sheogorath's kingdom. However, each era he is cursed to return to Sheogorath's form and rebuild what he destroyed.

Before the Shivering Isles, Jyggalag had only been mentioned in the in-game On Oblivion books, seen throughout the series (in Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion). Shivering Isles is his first appearance.

Jyggalag's army is characterized by brute force and power. The inhabitants of the Shivering Isles under Sheogorath's rule are seemingly powerless against the powerful Knights and Priests of Order. Their sources of power come from the large Obelisks of Order, which appear around the Shivering Isles. These are also spawn points from the Knights, while Priests are Sheogorath's servants who have betrayed him.

    In the Shivering Isles

Toward the beginning of the main quest in the Shivering Isles, Sheogorath only makes passing mentions of Jyggalag and his Knights of Order. When crystalline obelisks, known as Obelisks of Order, begin appearing throughout the Shivering Isles, it becomes clear that the Greymarch is approaching. Sheogorath explains what that entails, and entreats the player, the Champion of Cyrodiil, to assist him in ridding his kingdom of Jyggalag.

After spending some time in the Shivering Isles, the player witnesses Sheogorath's transformation into Jyggalag. After disappearing, it becomes clear that the player must become the Prince of Madness. Imbuing the Staff of Sheogorath with the power of the Daedric Princes, the Champion of Cyrodiil faces off against Jyggalag. After his defeat, he is freed from his cursed existence as Sheogorath, and the player is named the next Madgod.

    Abilities

    • Touch of Order - One of Jyggalag's two magical abilities, the Touch of Order allows Jyggalag to both heal (for a leveled amount of health points) as well as cause frost damage, and knock the player back.
    • Jyggalag's Supremacy - The second, and more powerful, of Jyggalag's two magical abilities, Jyggalag's Supremacy allows him to cause a leveled amount of shock damage to the player.
    • Jyggalag Power - A passive ability, Jyggalag Power allows a constant effect of health restoration.
