    Overview

    K-2L is a little seen planet within the Galactic Federation of the Metroid universe.  It served as the home of a mining colony on which Samus Aran's parents were stationed, and where Samus herself called home.  However, a space pirate attack led by Ridley led to the destruction of the entire colony and the deaths of most of its residents.  Samus, then three years old, is the only known survivor.
