Character »
A protagonist who lacks some or all of the qualities traditionally seen as heroic.
A common character class / archetype in role-playing games and fantasy. They are often less chivalric than your average Knight-errant, generally being depicted as either archetypal villains (such as a Dark Lord), or troubled and ruthless anti-heroes.
When one creature takes the blood of another creature, usually against their will. An excellent example is a vampire.
Your body is torn apart and your organs are falling out. But don't worry, you have the ability to pull yourself back together.
Some game characters just cannot swim. This usually means automatic death as soon as they hit the water.
Occasionally, it isn't just enough to let the ragdoll flop around on the ground. Some shooters have weapons that pin enemies to objects or walls when they hit.
It's arguably the one move that symbolizes the medium to those outside it. The ability to jump, be it onto a building, a platform, or a skull, is one of the all time most important abilities ever put in a video game.
A process by which one player/creature's health points are transferred to another, particularly via a spell, technique or item.
The ability to influence and control the thoughts of others.
Moral dilemmas presented to the player that often have a significant effect on the story or other characters.
Characters that are initially portrayed as evil, but eventually turn out to be good or not as serious of a threat. This also includes villains who remain evil the entire game, but contain some sense of moral goodness or ambiguity.
The original protagonist of a game becomes an antagonist in the sequel.
A time paradox is when a person who travels in time does something that influences their past self in a way that traveling in time in the first place would not be possible or not have occurred without the first intrusion.
The concept of a character leaping forwards or backwards in time.
Games that are controlled partially or entirely with a touch screen.
Vampires are undead, nocturnal creatures that subsist on blood. They have superhuman powers and are sometimes able to shape-shift. They are weak against sunlight, foreign objects stuck in and left in their hearts, decapitation and sometimes holy water and crosses.
In multiple works of fiction, Vampires are depicted as knights clad in (usually black or red), sinister armor. In works of fiction with multiple types of vampires or undead, Vampire Knights are usually shown to be the elite.
Voice Acting is the art of providing voices for characters in games, television shows, films, radio programs, and other forms of media.
