Kanbei is an all-around fighter whose troops are incrementally superior to everyone else's. This comes at a price, however, (quite literally) as Kanbei's units are also inordinately expensive. His CO Power is a simple, robust improvement of his forces. He is the subject of much treachery during the campaign, caused by enemies who play off his honorable nature.

- CO Power: Morale Boost. 4 stars. 20% offense boost and 10% defense boost for all troops.
- Super CO Power: Samurai Spirit. 7 stars. 20% offense boost and 30% defense boost for all troops. Counterattack are made at 150% strength for 1 turn.
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
- All units have a 20% strength bonus.
- All units cost 20% more to deploy and repair.
- CO Power: Morale Boost. 4 stars. 40% offense boost and 10% defense boost for all troops.
- Super CO Power: Samurai Spirit. 7 stars. 40% strength boost for all units. Counterattacks do double damage for 1 turn.
- Tag Team Power Ratings: Sonja = 130%, Sensei = 105%, Javier = 110%, Von Bolt = 90%.
