Kart Racer
CONCEPT
Kart racers are cartoon-like racing games that often feature fantastical power-ups.

The first kart racer was Power Drift (Game), a 1988 arcadegame developed by Sega AM2 and designed by Yu Suzuki (Person). It set the basic template for subsequent kart racing games. The Sonic Drift series is a spiritual successor to Power Drift. Kartracing was then popularized by the Mario Kart (Franchise) series, which debuted in 1992 with SNES game Super Mario Kart (Game), developed by Nintendo EAD (Company) and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto (Person).
