Kathryn Bailey Beckinsale was born July 26 1973, in London, England. Her father, Richard Beckinsale, was also a well known British actor, starring in the hit comedy TV series, Porridge, before his sudden death aged just 31. Beckinsale initially attended Oxford University, studying French and Russian literature, before quitting to follow her father into a career in acting. Beckinsale's first big break came when she was cast in Kenneth Branagh's film adaption of Much Ado About Nothing, landing the role of Hero. This success saw her gaining prominant roles in mainstream films, including Serendipity and the box-office smash, Pearl Harbor. She also portayed the character of Selene in the movie Underworld. This again achieved success, resulting in a sequel, Underworld: Evolution. This also saw the production of the game Underworld: The Eternal War, based in the universe created by the films. Beckinsale is included in the 'Special Thanks' segment of the credits, along with her husband, Len Wiseman. Although she is featured on the cover, and the character, to an extent, retains her physical appearance, she does not contribute to the voice acting.
