    I decided I would at least attempt recording my own Quick Look ripoff, see how it has thingy at the end.  Yeah totally different.

    Anyway this week's game is Killing Floor, the zombie survival game that took me by surprise.

    So I had to cut the videos in half due to length issues and I kind of skip around on the second video in order to show off some of end round content, if you will.

    Part I

    Part II

    Any feedback would be appreciated.  This is my first shot at making one of these videos and hopefully I will make more if people watch them.

    Thanks for reading/viewing!

    Eh, this definitely proves my point that you need another person there. I don't know how you'll pull that off, but you need to.

    I added part two with better quality than the first part.  I'm re uploading part one now so it looks better.

    What exactly was wrong if you don't mind me asking? I'm sure having another person would add more personality, but I have not way of recording more than one person at the moment.

    If there is something I can do to make the next video (if I do make one) better I would appreciate some feedback.

    I can't say, mainly because I have a stupidly short attention span. But from what little I did watch, it felt a bit...tutorialy.

    Could you be more excited? You sound as if you have to do it, not that it is something you wanna do.

    Its not that nice coming from me, I know, but I'm just trying to help.

    Well the first video was of the early rounds and there is not too much excitement going on there, but I can understand that point.

    It's not Giantbomb Quicklook
    But it was entertaining enough for me to watch both parts.

    But then again, who can every come close to the Giantbomb Quicklooks? That's right, nobody.
    I mean, some people might get a little closer to the old Quicklooks where there was only one dude sitting around playing it.
    But those were not as fun

    Anyway, Nice job Br3adfan (the Metallica cover or the original Budgie song?)

    When I got my 360 I was listening to the Metallica cover when thinking of a gamertag so I picked that.

    @Br3adfan: Thought so,
    But as someone has already stated, the only thing your video needs (besides another person there too, but that's something people can live without) is probably a little more enthusiasm and sounding like you have fun. At least a little fun and it would be ok :P

    But since this is new I will again say that it's a good job and you should keep doing them :)

    @ZeForgotten I'll work on that for the next one.  The thing is, whenever I've tried to make something like this it feels awkward justing talking to myself playing a game.

    Maybe I'll find a way to record more than one person for the next one.

    The one thing I can say is that videogames that focus on story like adventure games, point-and-click games and JRPGs tend to be pretty popular as opposed to games like Left 4 Dead (in terms of recording them). Although Left 4 Dead is no doubt an excellent game, it's not as interesting to watch as opposed to a story-driven game like Mass Effect. Of course, this is what I assume so based on the views I see on YouTube when it comes to Quick Looks and Let's Plays.

    It's a bit of a hit or miss really when it comes to videos like these. Nonetheless I found it pretty interesting so I'm looking foward to more from you.

    @Br3adfan:

    Watch this video and count the words "uh," "um," and "basically."  Also note the mid-sentence pauses and the frequency of telling the audience things that they can clearly see.

    Having a second person is good because it provides direction, removes the pressure for you to talk the entire time (which just makes for filler), and adds a conversational tone that masks how inarticulate you are.  Talking alone, at length, without prepared material is not something that most people can do.  Practicing speech without needless filler or repetition will help some, but a second voice would make a huge difference.

    As an alternative, try just recording the game without talking first.  Then, while watching the replay, add commentary.  This eliminates the split-attention.

    @ChristOnIce I am aware of the filler and pauses.  I made this as a spur of the moment thing so I had nothing to really go off of.

    I agree that adding another person could give it more personality, maybe trough Skype? I don't know, but for starting, I would make those quick looks be shorter or more fast-paced, at least until you get more experience. Great rip-off nonetheless ;).

    I actually bought a program to record Skype calls sometime last year, but when I log onto Skype using my new computer it says I don't have it.  I'll try to work something out for the next one.
