I think I anticipated there being a kind of divide between the haves and have nots and decided to check out other games instead of picking up the maps. If I were to get back to Killzone 3, are the new map packs worth while, or are people largely playing on the standard maps?

I have no idea, but I hate map packs for the same reason as it splits up the community which is a bad idea if you are not CoD. My guess is that the pro bros are probably playing the new maps, so for an ordinary person wanting to not get squashed it would probably be better to stick to the regular maps.

This was largely my experience. Had a good time when I got back with a decent K/D and when I jumped on the new maps I got totally destroyed. It's a shame cause the one where you see the rockets launch is absolutely stunning.
