Overview
Kimbo Slice (real name Kevin Ferguson), a native of the Bahamas, is a former mixed martial artist and currently a boxer. He first came to attention as a street fighter, with a number of his fights gaining him fame after videos of his brawls were posted online. He subsequently trained to become a mixed martial artist and was signed to the EliteXC promotion. When the promotion folded and was bought out by UFC, it was made clear to Slice that if he wanted to compete in the UFC, he would need to win in a heavyweight version of The Ultimate Fighter competition on television.
Slice did just that, but lost to Matt Mitrione via TKO in the second round of their match during UFC 113. He was released from his contract the next day, ending his MMA career. Following his release, it was announced that he was pursuing a new career in professional boxing, which, as of January 2013, he is still engaged in.
