With the news of Oprah giving away Kinect, and making all of America's MILFs to buy one next week, Kinect has yet again been confirmed to sell more millions. 
 
Ellen has been given a Kinect and loves it!  Now all the liberals will buy it up.

You know, although I feel like Kinnect will probably fail horribly, I hope that there are creative developers who do make the killer app for those who want a AAA Game that every "Hardcore" gamer wants. Sadly, we don't have any except those who want to dance that will come out at launch. 
 
Look at the Wii for example. Lots of cheap waggle family games but some awesome games here and there. Give it time I say.

I'm just stoked for Harmonix that they got the plug on the show. Very awesome. 

I love how Microsoft is resorting to stuff like this to sell their product. Nintendo didn't have to do this with Wii, and Sony didn't do it with Move.  
 
I should buy a Move set just to stick it to Microsoft. But I'd rather spend the money on something I'd use on more than just a remake of No More Heroes (especially since I already have Wii version of that game).

All I know is this:
 
I showed my wife one Dance Central trailer and she's been excited ever since. She is now (literally upstairs from me RIGHT NOW) re-arranging our entire living room to accommodate Kinect so she can get her dance on.
 
On the other hand, I really don't know what kind of percentile we fall into. She's not a gamer but she's enjoyed a number of games in the past. We were both super addicted to WoW for two years and she's also spent time super hooked on things like SimCity, Black & White and the old Nintendo 64 platformers. She's also incredibly PC savvy, a systems and database administrator by trade.
 
So I can't be totally sure if this will catch the attention of every housewife out there, but I do wonder about it's potential, and haven't written it off as an obvious failure yet.

Great.  Maybe if it sells well enough, someone will make a good game for it that isn't Dance Central.

Microsoft have definitely been doing a good job of getting the Kinect out there and in the eyes of the mainstream. I don't quite understand your pride over this though, essentially what the Kinect is offering is not gaming as we know it and will not not represent the future of what we know as gaming. Unless this is just me being stupid and failing to pick up on sarcasm here the only real reason I can see to be that proud of what the Kinect is doing to the industry is through a hope or belief that the peripheral will help to introduce more people to what we know as gaming in the long-term.

While I couldn't care less about Kinect, I have to give it to Microsoft for being original. I dont like what Sony have done because it's such a blatant wii knock off. Even if it is better than the wii, the originality isn't there. It's the same way I'd rather spend money on something like Mirrors Edge than something like Call of Duty.

It's like the Wii launch is repeating itself.  Get ready for some shitty games from every company to flood the launch window with garbage to catch the soccer mom train.

It's weird that the gaming branch of Microsoft knows how to market a product but the software division thinks cheesy television ads are enough.

God i hate oprah and ellen so much.  But im sure all the mom's who watch these dumb shows will buy it up.  I don't promote them doing this, but it is a very smart business move.

I would like to talk some about Kinect but confidentiality-contract is a bitch :P
