Project Natal To Launch At $150?
" But this price talk doesn't really matter, does it?"
I question this sort of rhetorical neutrality. The rest of Giant Bomb usually lets their own predispositions to these sorts of rumors shine through, that way we can understand their biases and make judgments accordingly. I'm not jumping on the "bash Brad Nicholson" bandwagon. I understand your journalism. But what do YOU think about this rumor @bradnicholson? I might come for the games, but I stay for the personalities, duders.
It will all depend on their marketing campaign. They are definitely right in that there are millions of people who will want that. The question is: How will they approach these people and let them know?
Nintendo makes millions because they distance themselves and their products from any perceptions of "videogame" and "videogamer" as far as possible. Its difficult to imagine Microsoft doing the same with Natal and 360.
$150 bundled with a collection of motion only games and a voucher for an upcoming fall release.
The Tribe has spoken.
" @glitznglam_style said:Could I interest you in a new 60gb hard drive for $100?" That's not cheap at all. It's utterly ridiculous. I would've picked one up, but not at that price. Not a chance in freaking hell, Microsoft. Not a goddamn chance. "Could I interest you in a 100 dollar Wireless Network Adapter? "
I would have to say I'm not that impressed with the price. However the price isn't the biggest of the issues. Two larger issues are A: Will it actually work they way are saying it will? Or will in a year we need to purchase the Natal motion plus attachment. B: What games are coming out for it? If it's going to be mini game games I'm going to be less the excited about it.

Yeah, seriously, how is $150 cheap? It's expensive for a console accessory. Honestly, I thought Natal was going to be $70 or something. At $150, they might as well not even bother releasing it.
Wow Brad2 , if thats cheap I'd love have as much money as you.

" @Shaymarx said:" I'm predicting a uk price of £79.99 with basic software, avatar gifts and a one month live subscription. "Really?! I think it will be close to £100. I think it will probably be £99.99 in the UK... "
HAHAHA
$150 = £150+
Don't kid yourselves.
If it's $150, I'm totally not sold on this product. I think it looks pretty freaking amazing so far and has a lot of potential, but I haven't been impressed with what the Wii can do, and while Natal looks significantly better, I don't want to be disappointed again. If I'm going to throw down $150, it needs to be the most amazing game peripheral imaginable. I'd be much more likely to get it if it was $80 or less.

I doubt it will be that low, $150 at todays exchange rate equals arounf £102 add the fact we pay far more than that due to VAT etc i cant see it going for anything less than between £120-£150.
Natal has way too much of a skynet vibe to me. I wouldn't be getting it regardless of price. Besides I see way more uses for this attached to a PC than a game machine. Flailing to casual games is not what I want to do, ever. So, in the unlikely event that it did come to my house, it would just get used for interface navigation if anything.
" They would need to seriously justify that purchase by including games and showing off Natal's features. "They're going to give you Cirque Du Soleil instead.
Going to fail at that price. Unproven tech with virtually zero recognizable launch games with it. Assuming Microsoft doesn't have a killer app hidden beneath all.. two? game exclusives this year.
Yeah, the price doesn't really matter, even though I firmly believe this is too expensive for the non-gaming demographic. At this point, I've decided not to get one because I've no interest whatsoever in motion control after having been duped into the Wii. I'll stick with actual games on an actual control pad until I'm proven this nonsense can be fun for more than 10 minutes while drunk with friends.
Nah son, this is way too expensive. I think its better to talk about what price is should come at than trying to predict the price. I think 80 bucks is pushing it but probably fine for the first time out, for early adopters.
But come on, this price thing has been thrown around so much. Are we forgetting that they still have to announce what the damn thing will be called? You are not gonna see retail boxes with Project Natal on them.
people keep saying "unless there are good games then i dont want it" and i agree but i dont really want to play a game like gears of war without a controller. how could that possibly work well.
If the price were such I'd feel a bit more confident of the precision of Natal; however, I will not buy it at 150 dollars unless there are good games for it.
Considering that's the rumored launch price, this isn't surprising at all, especially considering, as others have mentioned, how much Microsoft still charges for its other 360 accessories. It definitely seems overpriced sure, but so is the 360 hard drive or the wireless adapter. Personally though, I'm still waiting to see what Natal has to offer before going out and buying it. It may or may not be worth it at $150 depending on what will be offered at launch.
Actually, there was a big buzz a few weeks ago because it showed up on some european online store for $199. Presumably that was the attempt to high ball the price so we don't feel as bad about $150. Its hard to say though." I could see this as a way for microsoft to trick people. When that natal event comes around and they say its $100 or whatever, our only response is being happy that it's not $150. "
I have no interest in Natal at all, $150 is a lot of coins, but at the same time, you don't need to buy anything else to enjoy the Natal games, and since it has multi tracking, essentially its like buying 4 controllers I guess. So if you are planning on having fun with it with friends or family, itd probably justify the pricetag.
Also, while this leak may well be real, all the stuff he said is pretty damn generic.
"Microsoft expects to sell millions and millions of Natal units in its first year on the market so you can expect the software launch line-up to target non-traditional gamers,”
No shit, they want to sell their product and make money?! WHAT?! Non-traditional gamers? You mean Casual gamers?! Who could believe they invented this technology to be microsofts answer to the wii.
“A major marketing campaign will also play a key role in attracting and educating the expanded audience about Xbox 360’s controller-free revolution.”
This one is even worse, any idiot could predict 'a major marketing campaign' for project natal. Surprise! They developed this technology to make money and steal casual gamers from the wii market, since they don't watch E3 or keep up with game news, a major marketing campaign makes sense.
And the date? 'October 25th, but that might change'. Oh, so heres a date that looks so specific it must be real, but actually your telling us that it will probably be wrong unless you magically guessed right. Awesome.
So if anyone lets these generic statements act as proof of authenticity, you are silly.
