Game Trailers posted a brief clip of gameplay from the upcoming Kingdom Hearts Re: coded today.  For those that haven't heard of this one, Re: coded is a full-blown remake of Kingdom Hearts:  coded, a Japan-only cell phone title.  It looks like they're giving the game a pretty thorough overhaul for the DS incarnation.  (Note that this game is not the same as the yet unnamed Kingdom Hearts 3DS.)

Too many remakes, not really interested anymore.
Edit: I mean spin offs. I just want a PS3 sequel to KH2.

Is Kingdom Hearts even still relevant anymore? The second game basically turned it into an unoriginal Final Fantasy clone.

@xaLieNxGrEyx:  I'm sure it was fine if you really like Final Fantasy. I don't, and that's why I liked the first one so much. The FF element was a lot lighter in the first one.

I half-wanted to put a little "In before KH2 ruined the series" quip in the opening post, but who does that?  Honestly, KH2 was the first game in the series that I played, and I enjoyed it a lot.  I really don't see where the hate for it comes from.

Something other than what I've already played when I was nine.

@Hailinel:  I can only speak for myself, but I am someone that does not like Final Fantasy at all. I don't like the tropes, the storytelling, anything about it. That said, I really enjoyed the first Kingdom Hearts because the only real FF like element were the characters that made appearances. KH2 was when it started to get like a FF game with the unnecessary Organization XIII and Nobody side story. That was why I didn't like it.

Does anybody know how the cubes in the game work? And what they meant by a de-bugging mode? (If not, I guess we will find out soon enough.)

So Kingdom Hearts came out in 2002, and you were nine at the time, so you're what, seventeen now?  Grow up.  Just because it was fun when you were nine doesn't mean that it can't be fun now.

@Hailinel: I don't remember exactly how old I was at the time (I'm 14 right now), but regardless you're probably right. I tried to re-play the first game and had no fun at all. But if they made a less childish Kingdom Hearts game, I'd be on board.

The story of coded is about how Jiminy finds a mysterious note written in his journal and no one knows who put it there.  Mickey digitizes the journal, and you're essentially controlling a virtual Sora as he explores the journal's entries.  Assuming that "de-bugging mode" is a gameplay element (and not a sign of the game being a work in progress), it probably refers to an element of the game based on the fact tha the world is actually a digital version and thus could be debugged.

Or maybe Sora just hacked the Matrix.

@Hailinel:  I knew about the story already, and I was curious about how the cubes worked. But I guess the cubes are the bugs in the digital version of the journal.
