Kirby's Blowout Blast (known in Japan as Kirby no Suikomi Daisakusen, loosely translated to "Kirby's Great Suction Offensive") is a 3D platformer developed by HAL Laboratory and published digitally by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS on July 4, 2017 in Japan, on July 7, 2017 in North America, and on July 7, 2017 in Europe.
A spin-off of the Kirby side-scrolling platforming series, Kirby's Blowout Blast is based on the "Kirby 3D Rumble" mini-game from Kirby: Planet Robobot. Players control the titular Kirby in a top-down 3D perspective as he progresses through each level, inhaling enemies and other obstacles and spitting them out at other enemies/obstacles to destroy them.
Like the original, players are scored on quick clears, collecting coins, and chaining together multiple enemy defeats with a single spit. Levels are now much larger, however, and are scolling (with segments of locked-down arenas throughout each level). The game's lack of Copy Abilities, as well as its stage progression, music and other assets, pays homage to the 1992 Game Boy game Kirby's Dream Land.
Players can unlock bonus "statues" in the game's map screen both by having save data from Kirby: Planet Robobot and by scanning certain Kirby-themed amiibo figurines.
In Kirby's Blowout Blast players take on the titular Kirby. The game plays similar to that of the original Kirby's Dreamland, but instead players can move on a 3D plane.
Players can suck up enemies and spit them out to either just defeat them or to defeat multiple enemies or break blocks. When Kirby has an enemy inside of him an arrow will point in the direction that it will be spit out.
Kirby's Blowout Blast features support for the Kirby themed Amiibo figures. The following Amiibo are supported:
