Koholint Island

LOCATION

Koholint island is the setting for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Although it appears to be a real place at first the island is in fact only a dream of the Wind Fish.

Overview

Koholint Island is the setting of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Following a shipwreck, Link (Character) is washed ashore onto the island, where he is found by Marin (Character), one of the island's inhabitants. Upon awakening, he goes in search of a way off of the island, only to learn that the only way to leave is to awaken the Wind Fish (Character) that sleeps in the giant egg atop Mt. Tamaranch. The island is eventually revealed to be nothing more than a dream of the Wind Fish. When the Wind Fish is awakened at the end of the game, Link is able to awaken for real, but Koholint Island and all of its inhabitants vanish.
