E3 2012: Konami Pre-E3 Press Conference
Who is this aimed at? That douchey guy from the new studio was talking in marketing buzzwords as though he was pitching to investors
That's bulshit, Kojima. You said games are not art yourself. http://kotaku.com/150043/kojima-says-games-are-not-art
Go to the Game Trailers link. You can skip ahead.goddamnitwhycantiskipallofthissocialgamingcrapitsprerecordedforfuckssake
Not much that wasn't already shown off during the Spike special.
First ten minutes they talk about social games and PES, then they spend some time talking about ZOE HD Collection, followed by ten minutes about MGS Rising, and lastly they show the Castlevania Lords of Shadow's 2 trailer, and tease the 3DS Castlevania.
And for how many years will Kojima tease that damn Fox Engine?
And where is Contra that was teased last year?
Holy crap. I hope we are actually playing as Gabriel/Dracula still. While CG, this scene is awesome.
The trailer music got me slightly pumped. Ok, Konami, you have me excited again. Please let Mercury Steam keep making these until they make it to present day. I want to see that Gabriel/Death/Lucifer fight in the city.
Also, please let us play as Dracula throughout all the games, since it's an alternate take, he may not even need to die/keep resurrecting.
Three things that come to mind:
- I hope they give the same treatement as Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection to Zone of the Enders; as a video game with a very strong cult following, I hope we get an insight into the creation of these games, as well as other documentaries on the matter.
- I will not buy Metal Gear Rising as a good Metal Gear game; I will buy it as a great Platinum Games game. Kojima's touch will be missed, but the philosophy of Platinum Games is still unique and awesome.
- Please give us new IPs. Everyone, please.
@Maajin: I don't find "people not in on the joke reacting to people being stupid" funny. So I think the fact that it was pretty obvious most people in the skit were in on it helped. Also, the fact Raiden's mask actually popped open made me laugh.
Anybody else wonder why that video took place in The Grid?
@Vegetable_Side_Dish: I don't know! It could be. It'll be very interesting to see what the Lords of Shadow timeline's Alucard is like. Especially since this would likely be before he meets Trevor Belmont and goes fully good instead of just Rebelling.
Well, unless this takes place after the 3DS Lords of Shadow game (Mirror of Fate, teased after the CV trailer), which stars Trevor Belmont.
I don't know. I am way excited. CV is probably my favorite game series of all time, tied with Legacy of Kain. Lords of Shadow was a great fresh take on it, and I'm really interested to see where this goes.
I'm really excited to see more of Lords of Shadow 2, but it didn't sound like they planned to show anymore during E3. Hopefully Mirror of Fate will be shown though.
I wonder who that white haired chap from the trailer is gonna turn out to be. The only such character I can think of from the existing Castlevania fiction is Hector, but it could just as well be a completely new character, a new Belmont, or an old Belmont with a new look.
I'm sad because Konami has gotten their shit together and are no longer putting on a circus of an E3/pre-E3 press conference. I'm sure in years past Konami was appalled at how much we made fun of them for their goofy-ass presentations, but that's what made it something to actually look forward. Even with Mega64 doing another video, this "press conference" video thing was quite boring and safe.
Play us out, Tak Fujii:
Z.O.E HD looks sweet. Rising looks ok. Lords of Shadow 2 looked smart (for a CG trailer), makes me wish I properly played the first one....might pick it up. No Tak Fuji =[. 2010 conference was great because it looked like everyone was just wasted. Last years also had some stupid stuff but this year it just felt boring. Not even the Mega 64 bit.
Also I know Tak Fuji stole the show in 2010 but:
