I was thinking of getting L.A. Noire, but the recent news of Overheating consoles is making me think twice, especially since I can't afford a new PS3. So, should I get it now or wait?

A patch was already released for the PS3. I don't know what it fixed though.

What kind of PS3 are you using? I've heard that most of the people that have reported issues are using older models. I've only had it freeze up once on my Slim in 10 hours of playtime though.

Patch on 360 as well, same on fixing. I wouldn't bother holding off, it's fairly rare and I have had no problems other than minor graphical glitches (partner getting stuck on geometry, which reset at the next location, texture pop-in, etc.) so there's no reason not to get it.

20+ hours into LA Noire on the PS3 so far and no freezes, overheating or unexpected shut downs. With the state in which most games have been released over the past year or so I've been impressed on how well it has held up.

If a console is overheating when playing then it's underlying problem with the console itself & no amount of patching will fix it. The reports, accusations, denials and apologies by the press, Rockstar and Sony just made the issue seem much bigger than it actually is.

My problems only started AFTER I had applied the patch...and I've been going back to previous cases in an attempt to get a 5 star rating in them all.

I got stuck in the scenary, pedestrians fell through the ground, I got stuck solid on a ladder at one point....none of these things happened during my first playthrough. Perhaps I just got lucky?

I'm playing on one of the launch model PS3s and I have had absolutely no problems at all. Maybe I'm just lucky though.

Same, I am also playing on a launch model PS3 and I have had no issues during the first four hours of play.

To be honest i've gotten 3 game freeze on the 360 version with the Slim xbox 360. The console didn't show me any sign of overheating though since i just hard-restarted the system and continued to play it with no problem afterwards, so it could be just random for all i know. I can't tell for the PS3 version, but i've read similar problems with it (Random game crashes that may or may not be related to overheating). Rockstar have also declined the rumors of the overheating, take that for what's it worth, though i think it's a bold statement since they also said they are investigating the issues.

Also there's currently one patch available on both platforms, but none of them addresses any freezing, only some minor graphical glitches and store/Social club migration.
