I really want to get this game as I've heard great things. I never played the original but want to jump in and am wondering if there is still a big community of players involved in the game?

There is indeed, not as many as there used to be but you should be able to find a full game of any mode you feel like playing.

Played on 360 last night.  They should be releasing the other maps from L4D1 sometime soon now that Portal 2 is out.  So picking up L4D2 you'll get to play through the first game's maps too.

It should be quite packed still as I only own the first game and I never have any trouble finding a game in that.

So, everything from the first game will be ported to the second game? Including old characters?

Well I would guess they are just going to do the exact same thing they did with the No Mercy Campaign .

@Legend: Yes. Dead Air is coming July 22. The rest haven't been dated, but will come together with a fan made campaign getting the official treatment. It's called Cold Stream.

I'm glad I only bought L4D 2 when it was on sale, then. It seems that L4D will become obsolete soon.

I own the first on PC and the second on PC and 360. Last time I played on 360 there were plenty of people. The first has plenty of people on PC, and I haven't gotten around to the second one in a while. All of them still have decently large, if not thriving, communities now.

Plenty of people on X360 but if you can get it on PC do, the X360 L4D2 community as assholes. You'll probably ending up about 1 in every 4 games just sitting watching little kids try and kick each other from the game. Oh an make sure you have a headset or you'll probably just get kicked from the start.

@Legend: Yes, however no word on the Crash Course DLC for the first game coming to the second, so to play that you would still need the first game.

I just picked it up today after watching TNT and seeing how fun it seemed. Man, I suck and people are not shy about telling me so. Also, seems like a ton of rage quitters out there. Still having a blast though so hopefully I'll get better.
