The first character added following season one, Leona is an armored tank with a large array of stuns. Leona is among the lowest damage output champions in League of Legends.
The upper slopes of Mount Targon are inhabited by the warriors or Rakkor, a people who live only for war. The peak of Targon is reserved for a special group of Rakkoran called the Solari. Solari choose to forgo the path fo war in favor of devoting their lives to reverence of the sun. Legend tells that the warrior who formed the Solari was capable of calling down the might of the sun in combat. He claimed the peak of Mount Targon because it was the closest point to the sun. The solari continued to exist, but never produced another warrior capable of that power, until Leona. Leon was born to traditional Rakkoran parents. Her whole life she was seen as a problem child. She had the same fighting ferocity of any other, including her childhood friend Pantheon, but refused to kill. She held the belief that the true worth of a soldier was in their ability to protect. During the Rite of Kor, in which two Rakkoran teens fight to the death to bear a relic-weapon, Leona refused to fight. Her unwillingness to participate earned her a death sentence. As the executioners went to deliver the killing blow, sunlight burst forth. When it faded, Leona was unharmed and her executioners were unconscious. The Solari immediately took her in and gave he the sword and shield of the warrior of legend. When she was finished with her training, Leona left to join the League of Legends.
