Just thought I would share the Japanese language version of the game i found posted. It is all well tread game play shown, yet it is always interesting when you can see how each characters voice is interpreted. They did an okay job, the voices fit in an okay way. I did like the snippet of David Madsen they show...nobody does angry man voice like a Japanese man.

Japanese Life Is Strange Trailer
Missed opportunity to not just put some Japanese indie music in the game. That would be neat. Also even in that one brief moment of Jefferson dialog, voice actor sounds sinister as all fuck.
Finally, now I can play Life is Strange in the original Japanese.
The funny thing is you probably could play the game in Japanese just by inference and knowing what was happening. Sadly, the voice acting is probably not "that good" - I mean not good enough to make it all the worth the price. Although, I would dearly love to hear Victoria being 'salty' to Max in Japanese.

I assume she would just sound like Karin.
Also, more importantly, did they find top-shelf Japanese translators to make the slang make sense in Japanese, or will Japanese players just have to wrestle with a Japanese voice actor saying "Go fuck your selfie"?
I hope the Japanese audience got the English voice option w/ subs. It's serviceable but it doesn't really work for me, especially compared to the original VO. English voice had a certain charm to it. The Japanese one doesn't seem to quite capture the tone of the characters. I get the feeling they just got it done without much thought.

@humanoid: I can understand a native Japanese speaker possibly choosing a dub over the original, even if the dub is mediocre, but a native English speaker (assuming you are) choosing a Japanese dub for an originally English game set in America is pretty mind-boggling.
Would you believe me if I play the game with audio off?
I don't, but I wouldn't put it past someone

I like the language. Pretty mind-boggling. I know.
I'm assuming they didn't change the text language on the hundreds of posters, emails, notes, and letters you find, so there's probably just Japanese text superimposed similarly to the way you could press X and see plain English text for those items, but that is kind of a weird disconnect if that's how they do it. All these characters speaking Japanese and everything is written in English. Very Phoenix Wright.
If they actually did go through and edit all those assets, bravo.
The read on the title is the best part of that trailer. If I could have that every time I booted up the game I would be a very happy person.
Also the strange prominence of the joint in that trailer is pretty amusing. I don't know what Japan's relationship with the dankiest of kush is but I wouldn't guess it to be the greatest. Seems like a weird thing to have in that trailer.
