I played the demo of this and was really impressed. I wasn't THAT huge on the first, but for some reason, this one just seems more fun, maybe it's the new power-ups.
The thing is, I'm horrible at creating things. I try, and then halfway through my stage turns to crap and I either trash it or just never finish it.
Given that, is this game still worth 60 bucks?

LittleBigPlanet 2 expands the creation tools introduced in the first game, allowing user levels to diverge even more from the base gameplay. It also features a new story mode.
I Can't Create.
Even so, you can still play all of the other stuff that people create. I plan on getting it but have no plans to actually create anything. So I suppose the question is how much the creation tools were part of your purchase decision.
It's worth it to play other peoples stuff, also with time you can improve your skills. My advice is not to concentrate on making a level but concentrate on making contraptions and objects that do certain things. Once they are made you can save them as objects and use them any time you want.
This way you can focus on pure gameplay and then build a good looking level around that.
Oh and also, use the snap grid. ALWAYS use the snap grid.
It'll take a good long weekend with four people to unlock all the items, and then you can ACE the levels by yourself with can take weeks to months depending on your patience...until then you got 3 million LBP levels already uploaded, and thousand more for LBP2 going up each day.
It's the closest console gamers will get to User Generated Content, like the PC can do.
The best thing to do is just play tons of community levels. Get some ideas, then start off with something simple, like a minigame. Once you're familar with the tools and logic of the level creator, then apply these to your level.
I made the mistake of jumping right into making a full blown level, playing other levels and constantly seeing the bar raise, then trying to improve on my level. It's now sitting on my moon, half finished, with over 200 hours spent on it.
Though, the posts here have kinda steered me towards the "yes" direction.
I would probably never really create stuff, but no worries, there's going to be like a billion levels created by other dudes. So just ride on that train, and who knows, maybe you'll pick up some inspiration and start fucking around with the creation stuff. If you dig it, you'll get better at it, otherwise there's still so much other content, either way you'll still enjoy the game.
For whatever reason I got vexed with LBP1 after the creation tools got a certain level of complicated, which was very disappointing because in the months prior I had been DYING to get my hands on it, surely this was life changing software at its finest.
I'm hoping that by cancelling my gamefly subscription (which encourages me to blast through games & not take enough time with things) that I can wield the improved means of creation to blow some effing minds or at least stick with it & accomplish something meaningful heh
I haven't been nearly as excited about the sequel but the latest quick look & demo has persuaded me to TAKETH A PLUNGE mayhaps, as they are known to do.
That's how I am, more often than not, unfortunately. I used to really push myself trying to understand the warcraft 3 world editor to create my own fun, lil campaigns. I was able to learn quite a few of the mechanics but I never could create all too complex levels like the ones found in the main campaign. I could never figure out how to connect levels either so when you complete one, you transit into the next.
I barley created anything in the first LBP and loved it. I am currently playing through the second, and while i plan on creating, even if that falls through it will be worth the 60 bucks. The singleplayer plus community levels alone are worth the purchase. There are some crappy community levels, but the good ones make it worth while.
