At least they are dipping their toe in the water. It seems like there are lots of people now working at LEC who would love the chance to bring these games back, and if they prove successful then maybe a sequel would be in order. I just hope the team are up to such a task, since most of them the old guard are divided between Telltale, Double Fine and a few other places now.

LucasArts was founded by George Lucas in 1982 and had a hand in the release of over 125 games on almost all platforms until it was closed by its recent purchaser, Disney, in 2013.
Lucasarts to announce new game for an old franchise!
" Oh, they're releasing the weaker half of their back catalogue on Steam. As an 'old skool fan', this exciting news is really too much for me to take. "This is just the first of many to come. The guy from LA said that they only have a few guys working on it so its only 10 for now but many more are coming.
Was this really just the steam announcement? Fucking lame.
This has been happening a lot lately. Misleading statements from companies that fail to deliver. Twitter doesn't help either.
FUCK.

Great point. Outside of getting Bioware to make good Star Wars games recently LucasArts has pretty much done nothing but sully their once great name and in general suck. I don't know why I forgot this.
And one last thing, why the hell does Grim Fandango need a sequel? I love the game as much as anyone but I think a sequel could only go badly.
