M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank
The M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank line of armored vehicles have represented the pinnacle of MBT engineering and design for over thirty years. It has seen service with the armed forces of the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Australia. The Abrams M1 tanks were first tested in combat during the first Gulf War, in which nearly 2000 M1A1's deployed in Saudi Arabia, proving invaluable in countering enemy armor which lacked the superior awareness, technology, and range of the M1A1's. As a result, only 9 M1A1s were destroyed during the liberation of Kuwait, and only one fatality occurred to Abram crews. The most current generation of the M1 Abrams tank is the M1A2, which was outfitted with much more advanced navigational and targeting systems, superior depleted uranium armor. There were also new packages supplied, such as the M1A2 Systems Enhancement Package which added digital maps and increased the situational awareness of the commander, and the Tank Urban Survival Kit, which added much needed armor to the rear and sides of the tank.
