    Development

    To coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Mafia series in 2022, a new Mafia game was announced by Hangar 13 and 2K Games. According to rumors at the time, the game had been codenamed "Nero" and would focus on the rise of the Salieri family from the 1890s to the 1920s.

    The game was officially revealed in August 2024 at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, which confirmed that the game would take place in early 1900s Sicily.
