Well worth the price for admission
Well Magic the Gathering is back! The Fantastic game released a couple years ago is now back with some improvements. To get this out of the way, all previous dlc does not work for the new game. At first I too was upset and thought that this game wouldn't be worth it, but after checking out the decks which can do even during the trial there is a reason why. 95% of those cards from the previous game are either replaced by much better counterparts or in the game. While some of the Pure decks are gone a couple are there to replace them and is very satisfying.
Now the core game-play haven't changed for the obvious reason that it's a card game and probably won't be have altered to much between 1 vs 1. The aesthetic changes are very nice. The characters look nice and the cards are very clear pleasing to look at. The tables also have some nice detail to them and any fan will enjoy them.
The biggest improvement to the game is multiplayer. With 4 way Free for all still there and now Two-headed giant mode 2v2 humans or 2 humans vs 2 ai characters online! Play with a friend at home or go head to head with a partner against some ai or other players. The new mode here is Archenemy mode 3 players vs 1 ai. The ai has double the hp and a very very very cheap set of card called Scheme cards. This takes a lot of teamwork and experience to tackle and is a great challenge for friends to do.
With the trend of arcade games being mediocre and at 15 dollars no less, it's nice to see Magic the Gathering is a sequel that is 800 microsoft points and strives to be better then before. The lack of dlc decks from before is painful but the new customization options, the new modes and new visuals. Any new fan and old will fall in love with this sequel. But for those who already bought the first game and only plays magic occasional like a couple times a month? Might not find enough new things to warrant another 10 dollar purchase.
