    Overview

Magical Chase is a TurboGrafx-16 horizontal-scrolling shoot 'em up and part of the wave of "cute 'em up" games featuring bright colors and comical characters. It followed Success's Fantastic Night Dreams: Cotton, also a horizontal shoot 'em up featuring a witch and cute enemies exclusive to the TurboGrafx-16. The game was eventually converted to PC and the Game Boy Color, the latter as Magical Chase GB.

A broom-wielding witch named Ripple is searching for an evil wizard, and must collect money to buy power-ups and extra lives en route. Along the way she encounters unfriendly porcupines and giant teddy bears as well as other unusual enemies.

The game features three difficulty levels, including "breeze", "bumpy", and "rough". To unlock every level, players must complete the game on the "rough" difficulty.

Released late in the TurboGrafx-16's life cycle, Magical Chase is considered to be one of the harder to find games on the system. Even the Game Boy Color and PC ports are considered to be rare.

    Critical Reception

Electronic Gaming Monthly issued the scores of 7,7,7,7 adding, "...a decent shooter with a really strange premise and background. Although you're operating without potions and shields, the quality and pace of the blaster action is up-to-par with the majority of titles on the market ".
