In the 40 minutes or so I've played of it it did seem seriously messed up. Every online match has started fine and then freezes within the first minute, forcing me to ctrl-alt-delete. There's a story mode where you play against the CPU and a local mode where you can switch out real players for CPU. That and online versions of the local match stuff is all the game has to offer. There's not even an endless mode! That said I think the game looks nice and play like a Magical Drop game.
My issue with the PC version, besides a random freeze, is that it doesn't let you customize your keyboard buttons. This wouldn't be so bad if the Basic Setup didn't seem like it was built for a different keyboard setup. Q & D are left/right? S & Z are up/down?
I was able to remap the keys without any trouble. I haven't tried any online games, but local works just fine. And endless/practice mode would have been nice.
I will say, though, they made the single player mode Considerably Easier than it was in the Neo Geo games. I'll admit, about 90% of my MD experience is with 2, so maybe this is something they'd already addressed, but I came ready to get massacred, and pretty handily cleared the story mode on Normal with only a couple of screw-ups.
It's a solid, modern Magical Drop rendition. I wish I could find an online match, but I'm glad I can now play Magical Drop without setting up a Neo Geo emulator.
