Maia takes place in the year 2113 when the Humans decide to initiate it's first extra-solar colonization program classified as Maia. It is a management game whereupon you are required to build, expand and improve the said colony.

Maia is currently in Alpha stage and is still under development, on December 3, 2013 it was released on Steam as an Early Access title.

Much like Dungeon Keeper and (and to a certain degree) Evil Genius, much of the view takes place underground the hostile surface of the planet. Expanding the colony means mining out the walls to create rooms and space where the inhabitants move about and work. Furthermore, it is up to the player to keep his inhabitants happy by providing the appropriate rooms and equipment to feed, house and entertain the colonists whilst protecting them from alien wildlife.
