    Overview

Makibishi (or caltrops) are anti-personnel or anti-vehicle traps placed on the ground, often used to cover an escape or damage unsuspecting enemies. They are simple in design, consisting of multiple sharp spines arranged in a way that there is always a sharp point angled up (often a tetrahedron shape).

Popular among ninjas, assassins, and law enforcement.
