Maneater Mildred will invade the player's world as a red phantom, provided they are in human form, after leaving the bonfire in the Blighttown Swamp. When defeated she will drop three Humanities and her weapon, the Butcher Knife. She can then be summoned for the battle against Chaos Witch Quelaag.
Her design is an homage to the Meat Cleaver Black Phantoms from Demon's Souls. During the testing phase of Dark Souls, one of the game developers created her as a joke and invaded fellow players in the Blighttown Swamp. The character received positive reception from the rest of the development team and was added to the final game.
