    In Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Manuel Palaiologos appears as a villainous figure, trying to restore the Byzantine empire, with himself as emperor. And, like most Assassin's Creed villains, he was working with the Templars.

    However, in real life, while Palaiologos was indeed heir to the Byzantine throne, he decided to merely accept a pension from the Constantinople government, and had no known ties to the Templars.
