Bungie's classic Marathon series gets revisited nearly thirty years later as a sci-fi extraction shooter.
Overview
Marathon, not to be confused with the original 1994 game of the same name, is a sci-fi extraction shooter developed by Bungie (Company). It was originally planned for release on September 23, 2025, but was indefinitely delayed due to various issues including an art plagiarism debacle. A same name reboot of the Marathon trilogy, Marathon switches from a traditional first-person shooter to a team-based FPS extraction shooter with a new futuristic art style. As cybernetic mercenaries (known as "Runners"), players are tasked by rival factions to scavenge a lost colony on the planet Tau Ceti IV, fighting off rival Runners and the planet's hostile environment.
