Ways nintendo could destroy Mario

I'm not saying Nintendo's ruining Mario, I'm just asking if you guys can think of ways Nintendo could possibly destroy. One thought that comes to my mind, is adding too many regular characters to the series, which is something that ruined the Sonic games, or maybe making too many gimick games, but anyway feel free to post your opinion.

Giving him full lines of dialogue.

I suppose so, then again that might actually make him seem less anoying, although he really isn't that annoying I suppose.

Perhaps giving him realistic proportions would do it and putting him in realistic environments and situations.

I know there are games that Nintendo has made that have huge voice acting, Mario isn't one of them.

Make a game that takes the Mario universe WAY too seriously, with full dialogue, crappy references from movies/games.
