As I am a younger brother myself, I've had a stronger connection to Luigi. I even played solely as Luigi when playing through New Super Mario Bros. and was quite bummed out I had to beat the game first before I could do the same in New Super Mario Bros. 2.

I've always liked Luigi more, maybe it's because he's an the underdog I guess, but something about mario just radiates a smug 'I've got this' tone.

I guess Mario is like superman to me, he has no real weakness which makes him boring. (Ok Superman has Kryptonite which makes this a bad example but you get the idea...)
