It's Microsoft's game so it could be a month or it could be over a year like Iron Brigade. They didn't treat it too well with the friday release so I'd say sooner rather than later.

EDIT: Wasn't it an open secret that Trenched/Iron Brigade was in the registry months before release?

They've spoken about wanting to release it on PC, but that it was something they would look into post-launch.

    Seems plausible?

That's a relief, as my 360 crapped out on me about halfway through the game.

What does that even mean? MS has been releasing their exclusives and many other games on friday for a while now. This was an exclusive like the South Park game and Fez so they released it on friday like they have for a while now.

Did you see the paltry promotion the game got? Listen to today's bombcast if you're not convinced. Fez and South Park weren't completely funded by MS money either, while MotN was and it gets a friday slot when Tuesday is the day when meaningful releases happen.

XBLA games come out on Wednesday and thats only because thats the day MS picked. Meaningful games come out on wednesday like..The Expandables 2, Deadliest Warrior? Joe Danger 2 comes out this friday does that mean that game isn't going to be good? If MS releases games on friday so they don't get buried with the rest of the XBLA junk, the game doesn't need as much promotion as most XBLA games because it's the only one they is released that day.

Also i saw ads on the dashboard for the game yesterday.

This is good news, I hate it when good games are XBLA exclusives cause Microsoft's retarded points scam drove me away from the service. You can claim that 800 points "represents" 10$ all you want but when you have to pay at least 15-20$ to get access to that amount of points you're just lying about the price of everything. I have to spend 20$ to get 1500 points to buy any "15$" XBLA game. Hate it.

Man, I waited a year for the eventual Iron Brigade PC version, and it came with Steam region lock thanks to GFWL ( which is effing supported in my country, but yeah whatevs ). So I'm pretty positive I won't be able to play this game either way.

But, yeah, we'll probably see a PC version, no worries.

I wouldn't be surprised if it comes to PC, their other games have been in the past but I guess that's just due to publishing.

@MikkaQ: You buy points in 400-point increments now, at least in the US. It's been that way for a while.

Not in Canada. it's like 500 points for 7.50 or 1000 points for 14.50, it's ridiculous. If you buy cards you're still forced to buy 20$ worth of points at least.

@MikkaQ: Of course this is lame for someone that would only buy 1 game on the service, but most people tend to buy more than 1 game. After purchasing just enough points to allow me to buy this game I was left with 20 points on my account.

In the end it kinda forces me to buy more things that I generally don't need to play though. It encourages more purchases in a pushy and annoying way and I'm just about done dealing with it after almost 7 years. PS3 and Steam have no problem charging the same amount, so I feel less hesitant when I shop around them.

Wow, I never knew Don Mattrick was a member here on Giantbomb!

I know that joke doesn't work that well cause Mattrick doesn't play games, he just spends the whole day playing with his hair, but he is the only person I know who is somehow associated with the MS Games division

Shocking I know, there are some people who don't froth at the mouth when faced with having to put in their mail and password once when launching a GFWL supported game. We are few and far in between, each day we grow weaker as tourette addled teens twitch and curse us to high heavens on various message boards but we try to stay strong.

    God Bless everyone.

    Yooouuuuuu fuck.

    You dare?

Having to put in your e-mail and password? Do you think it fucking ends there? Do you think people get genuinely pissed at the integration of this service because of an extra log-in screen? I don't know. How the fuck. Your experience with this service was so inexplicably uncluttered, so miraculously graceful, so unbelievably idyllic, that you too would not spit out fits of rage at the very mention of this service. Here are some examples:

    • Logging in to GFWL in Batman Arkham City reduced the framerate down to about 2-5 frames per second, rendering the game unplayable. I had to either log in with the Windows Live Marketplace app before starting the game, and hope for the best, or deactivate DX11. If I didn't log in, it would be fine, but I couldn't save my progress.
    • Unlike Steam it clings itself to some games, forcing you to log in with this service to save your progress. Not only is it annoying to log in to two different services two play one game, there also is no "offline mode" in games that support GFWL. You have to be online to save your progress, or at least that's what I gather from my experience with the service.
    • It takes so fucking on to log in. After I've already logged in to Steam, which takes about 2 seconds to do, I don't want to have to log in to another service to play a game I want to. But this wouldn't be nearly as annoying if it didn't take the service nearly half a minute to log in each time.
    • I don't know how true this is, but it seems to be a well-known fact that GFWL is an unsafe platform for online games, and that it is easily exploitable.
    • It just fucking doesn't work well. I tried playing Age of Empires Online with a friend, and a connection couldn't be established. We tried several times, on different days, and the person I was trying to play the game with even changed his internet settings. This was the only service out of those I've used on my PC (Steam, Origin, Desura) that hasn't allowed me to play an online multiplayer game with someone I want to play that online multiplayer game with.

I'm glad I don't have more games than I do that incorporate that service. It is so bad they killed it and are replacing it with the "Xbox" platform on Windows 8. Let's see how that goes. Not necessarily cynical about the quality of that service at all. Though there is that thing Gabe Newell was really pissed about that I think may pertain to this.

If you like GFWL, I just have to assume you're really into your gamerscore.

@Snail: Never had an issue with it, have you tried updating your drivers?

@Snail: I have to say I am not fond of Gfwl, but I don't hate it at all. I just didn't have a bad experience with it yet. And I don't care about gamerscore ;-) .

About the 'offline mode': Of course you can play offline. I do it on some Gfwl games. Just create a new offline profile at the start of the game and you are done.

About the 'killing': They did not kill it for Windows 8, they renamed it and put a coat of paint on it. It is the very same service. The hate from Gabe Newell was about the Windows 8 App Store. Of course he does not like it, because it is a Steam competitor and it will be built into Windows 8. I am astounded that he is not outraged about the Mac App Store as well.

@Roland_D11: I am certain that in Batman: AC each "Microsoft account" (which is what it is called now, since they killed the "Live" suffix, which is what I meant) has save files associated with it. If you log in with another "offline account", you'll be accessing different save files. That may be specific to this game, and perhaps some others.

But yeah, this upcoming revision seems like a redesign and an overhaul of the service, making it faster, less clunky, perhaps safer, etc.

Well the Mac App store doesn't really have nearly as much games, and they aren't even close to being competitively priced compared to what Steam offers. So I suppose that's why.

What? What drivers? Are you talking about the internet connectivity issue? Yeah they're up to date.

You know, I was just making fun (GfWl is just an easy target) so I hope you were not too upset (although I could kinda understand it ;) )

However I had my fare share of problems with the service as well, Dark Souls f.e. crashes every time when I don't start the service before starting the game. Batman spontaneously decided that my profile was invalid so I had to create a new one and Shadow Planet refused to connect from time to time (I even lost my save once, but that might have been my fault). So at best GfWl is just a 10-20 seconds consuming nuisance but the service never worked just right for me. Steam is by all means not perfect but at least it works 98% of the time.

@Abendlaender: No biggie, I personally only had minor issues with it but it's nothing serious or game breaking. I'm well aware the service isn't perfect but since I am a big XBOX gamer I do like having my PC gaming contribute to all my 360 "Stats." It's not even a gamerscore thing as it is having one comprehensive profile. I've had friends who had awful problems with Steam but I know thats a vast minority as I myself also had no issues with Steam before while one of my best friends curses it out to high heavens because literally every game he buys through Steam has some issues.

hoooooly shit, it's coming to Steam in October 16 for 15$, WITHOUT GFWL!

I dislike it when games come out without GFWL since it helps me consolidate my console and pc gaming under one neat umbrella.

GFWL would mean it'd be region locked, thus preventing me from buying / playing it.

    So imma happy.

@Snail: Yes, the saves are specific to the account you log in with. But: If you don't care about gamerscore in the first place, want to play offline (no friendslist needed) why do you need to log in to regular your Xbox-Live account?

The Valve rage about the Windows app store is the other way around in my opinion. Valve is trying to push Steam to be the de-facto standard for PC games AND software. They already announced that they will sell software through Steam very, very soon. And I think it is safe to expect that they will try to push media stuff into it as well, Big Picture Mode is the first small step in this direction.
