Masahiro Ito is most renowned for his work in the Silent Hill franchise. He was born in 1972 and after graduating from the Graphic Design department of Tama Art University (the same university where Takayoshi Sato had studied too), he joined Konami in 1997. As the Art Director and Monster Designer, he was responsible for the designs of monsters in Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill: 0rigins. He was not involved in Silent Hill 4: The Room when original team, Team Silent, disbanded during that time but he was mentioned in the credits as 'Special Thanks'. He worked on box art for the Japaneses version of Silent Hill: Homecoming featuring Pyramid Head but the game ended up being canceled. Ito designed the box art for the Japanese release of Silent Hill: Downpour. Konami hired Ito to work on creature designs for Metal Gear Survive. He designed the zombie-like enemies called the Wanderers and the boss creature, The Lord of Dust. Ito along with Akira Yamaoka were guest collaborators for the free-to-play MMO, World of Tanks' Halloween event in 2020. Ito designed tank skins and Yamaoka contributed an ambient track for the game.
Arguably his most famous creation is Pyramid Head, a character who has appeared in several games in the series, and also the movie.
Ito currently works in his home studio as Illustrator and Designer.
