Mass Effect 3 - Multiplayer Reveal
Oh right, today is that holiday where people say things like they are facts when in fact they aren't and are totally false.
...
Please tell me that day is today.
As long as it's a interesting concept that plays well. Like with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, at first I hated the idea of multiplayer in that game, but after playing it and seeing what they were going with, and how it didn't hamper the actual campaign of the game, I was fine with it.
SHUT UP! I demand you to jump down the throats of the developers for trying something new before having played it and, in fact, even knowing if it is terrible or not despite all evidence pointing to this being something thought out and well done, because, you know, it is BioWare! As long as the single player is anywhere near as good as the first 2 I'm cool with it. Multiplayer could even be a good thing.
EDIT: Seriously though, what makes you guys hate this idea so much? Both Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Dead Space 2 (traditionally amazing EA single player games) added multiplayer functionality to their most recent release without sacrificing an ounce of the quality contained in the single player - Dead Space 2, in fact, improved greatly the campaign - and simultaneously generating a, at very least, decent multiplayer component.
Without any details about what multiplayer will entail, I remain hopeful. It would be awesome if they had a side story about a squad of marines or something playable as a co-op multiplayer experience. Hell, I'd even enjoy a class-based multiplayer where I could bring in my own Shepard if they've managed to zip up the gameplay enough. Of course it would probably be imbalanced as hell but that's ok, I play Vanguard.
This can work in one of two ways:
- Cooperative missions/full campaign
- Cooperative horde-mode
If it's neither of these, I'm putting my scepticism shades on.
Someone....will get to play as grunt...real akward if you pick him as your romance...This can work in one of two ways:

Kinda annoyed everyone thinks they need multiplayer when their is only a few games that multiplayer actually matters
Fuck you Bioware. I have no problem putting multiplayer in a Mass Effect spin off but leave the core trilogy alone.
Maybe if we knew what the multi player was and have heard about other people's experiences about it I'd have an opinion other than I'm gonna buy it because of the single player.

Assassins Creed always had the potential to have one. This doesn’t. Bioware has tried to implement DLC purely based on combat and guess what? IT FAILED.
I guess we have to wait until GamesCom but i'm not expecting a cheer.
If they aren't taking resources away from the team making the single player, then I couldn't care less. But if anything is sacrificed from the single player campaign as a result, there will be hell to pay...
I don't understand why people are constantly pissed off when multiplayer is added to sequels..
Uncharted 2 now with multiplayer!
The internet before the game came out - FUCK EVERYTHING AND FUCK EVERYBODY!

The thing is I do not go to Mass Effect for the combat whatsoever, even though it is solid for the type of game it is. Unless they completely overhauled Mass Effect 2's combat I can not possibly see this being a feature I touch, much like GTA 4's online and MGS4's. I'm pissed because resources, even if small, went into this and not the single player. After Dragon Age 2, that dude bro space marine party member, John Riccitelo's comments about bringing new people into the franchise with 3 and that turret sequence being highlighted at E3 I can 100% see them ruining this franchise. I'm sorry if I come off as a douche for not seeing what this mode is but I am heavily entrenched in the series, read all the books, comics, have some figures, and am extremely worried.

Yes! Perfect! Let's hope they don't bother too much with the single player because who really cared about that anyway?
I can't imagine it being anything more than DLC co-op missions that have little to do with your Shepard.
It would be pretty sweet if it was an up to 4 player mission campaign where there's a Krogan, a Turian, a Salarian and an Asari. They're spectres who are trying to do something vaguely important.
I could get hyped and stoked for that, not to mention I'd pay like 20 bucks easily.
Really nice job on shoving in Kinect and multiplayer though Bioware....
I was about to say Bioshock 2's multiplayer did nothing for it....@CL60: Bioshock 2's online kinda sucked along with MGS4's and GTA 4's multiplayer.

I could understand it if it takes place during the First Contact War, where humans and turians freaked the fuck out when they saw each other. Then that means, less customization for people who might mope about that. It'd kinda be like Halo, if it's just those two races.
I don't want that. I want to bring my shepard into the MP.

I should've noted that if this multiplayer was somehow related universe-wise then that is why that would make sense now. If there is some story ramification in Mass Effect 3 for Shepard and it to be in there, then I'd be cool with that. If it's just tacked on like, FUCK YEAH, KING OF THE NORMANDY BITCHES, then forget it. Not completely against this at all, despite my initial comments on the subject in another thread here.
My knee-jerk reaction is one of rage and extreme annoyance. It's frustrating to see decisions like this made in service of the concept that videogames need features xyz so that they can avoid x number of second hand sales and sell x number of map-packs. That said, I doubt the inclusion of the feature will impact on the quality of the game, and I'm not dismissing the notion that Mass Effect multiplayer could be fun. Ultimately I'll probably just ignore it entirely like I did Dead Space 2's multiplayer.
This is great! I always lamented at the fact that my AI teammates would hop over cover even though the area ahead is swarming with enemies. That is assuming if multiplayer for this game means campaign co-op. Otherwise, DO NOT WANT!
