@Dezztroy: Well I haven't beaten the game yet so I don't have the endgame powerups but in ME2 the adept class never really got as great in the end. Correct me if I'm wrong - someof you have replayed these recently, but in ME1 when you did singularity and push etc - that wasn't a projectile wasn't it? I remember THROW being just like a wave of biotic energy instead of the ball that now flies and hits your enemies.
Mass Effect 3
Game » consists of 19 releases. Released Mar 06, 2012
When Earth begins to fall in an ancient cycle of destruction, Commander Shepard must unite the forces of the galaxy to stop the Reapers in the final chapter of the original Mass Effect trilogy.
What class did you choose?
I played Vanguard in 1 and 2, so I never really used the biotics that much. But yes, IIRC all biotics in ME1 were "instant" and not projectiles.@Dezztroy: Well I haven't beaten the game yet so I don't have the endgame powerups but in ME2 the adept class never really got as great in the end. I just started with a Vanguard. I loved being a Vanguard in ME2, and by the looks of these comments, so do a lot of others.
@Humanity:
I kind of thought they fixed the problems with protected enemies being immune to most biotics by having a lot more enemies with no shields or armor in this game, having health be a more significant portion of an enemy's total life, and having a lot of the abilities have some kind of debuff effect in addition to the crowd control.

@EToaster: @Ulain: Yep, I've been playing as an Engineer too, and I've been really enjoying it. I don't find the combat drone all that useful, but incinerate and overload are pretty much all you need.
I respecced again last night to max out incinerate, combat drone, and most of Cryoblast and Tech Mastery. I find the combat drone to be a very good distraction; I really wish I could like the turret but it's just too small and immobile to be much help in my opinion, when, as you pointed out, Incinerate is so damn OP. I took freeze combo and am having a great time with that. If I had to constantly re-fire the turret, I'd have less time for freezing and burning.
I'm sure I'll respec again anyway though....and also a possibly replay. I really want to use the Claymore on a non-power based class since it's so fucking heavy and powerful.
Since this is my first play through, and I'm using a Shepard that dates way back to ME, I chose soldier. I started with a soldier, and I'm going to finish with a soldier. Maybe on a few other playthroughs I'll use an engineer or vanguard.
I think I went Vanguard in ME1, Soldier in ME2 and Sentinel in ME3. Mixing it up.
All the classes seem well balanced and haven't seen any disadvantages of picking any one in particular in co-op. My sentinel in single player feels pretty overkill now I added penetrator rounds to his skillset at the medbay but its fun overloading shields and throwing dudes all over the place. I didn't care for freeze though because the ability itself does no damage. Warp, Overload and Throw are my combo and it's sweet.
Im lame. I've always played soldier
Male shep soldier, about to do a femshep run and maybe i'll do sentinel

The freeze doesn't really comb well with a sentinel's other powers, sadly, but if you combo it with, say, Edi's Incinerate, or if you're playing a gun-heavy Sentinel (freeze targets, snipe em in the head/run up and explode them via shotgun).
The thing I like most about this one opposed to ME2 is the different builds you can use within just 1 class, thanks to weapon availability and more ranks of powers.
Off-topic: Does anyone use Liara? I'm just playing on Normal and she dies constantly because of her super low health and mediocre barrier. Tanky James Vega is hilarious though. 1100 shields and health, sure why not?

I only pick Liara if I feel she'd fit the story to be there. I'm sure if I was playing on insane I'd just pick two tanks like Vega to be distractions.
My Vanguard has been an excellent choice for me so far. I activate Squad Cryo Ammo and then Incendiary Ammo for myself, then dash + shotgun until the battlefield clears. The Vanguard plays similarly to the ME 2 version, so it's been an easy transition so far.
Will probably reroll as Adept or Sentinel for a secondary run. Not sure how I plan to approach this game on Insanity quite yet.

I find Liara's Singularity to be indispensable, especially as a character who doesn't have a great way of locking enemies into place yet. As a Vanguard, I feel like I take a lot of fire, and Nova opens me up to an untimely death if I'm not paying the closest in absolute attention. Singularity eases the burden significantly, plus it recharges moments after being cast, so she can use it again if more enemies filter into the battleground. Since I'm constantly moving, using Biotic Charge and whatnot, this allows me to keep pressure on all parts of a combat scenario at all times.
@benspyda: @Capum15: I switched to Hardcore last night, and am currently getting my ass handed to me. How the hell do people play on Insanity? I'll admit I haven't been much of a console gamer for...10 years? Damn MMOs.
Is it best to just have a shitload of crowd control or a shotgun? Seems like a take a ton of damage just coming up from cover to throw a Cryoblast or my drone.

I do want to try insanity and see if its doable. But if I do I think I'll start with ME2. Do a Mass Effect insanity run.
I just finished on insanity as a vanguard. Once I realized how to play the class most efficiently the game became extremely easy. I carried a shotgun and a pistol but they were kind of just there for show... if you have 200% cooldown reduction then you can charge and nova indefinitely because charge has about a 1 second cooldown. The only reason I died against any enemy was because the banshees would occasionally pick me up and stab me through the chest for an instant death. Besides that.... having a move that replenished shields every second made it quite difficult to kill me (and nova did about 1.4k damage to enemy barriers/shields/armor). I don't think I fired a bullet for the last six hours I played the game.
