Ash is a cooler character if you ask me, and she has some really nice sub plot conversation options. Liara was just really weird, because you could fall in love with her as a woman...it was just weird, and some of the conversations were...really...really awkward. Ash.

The thing is I hate Liara as a character but Kaiden is a way more useful character in my opinion....aw where's Chie!

For whatever reason Liara seems to appeal more to me. I went with Ashley when I played through the game but Liara seems to be the more interesting a likeable character to me. I think because being an alien she's interesting because she's someone out of the ordinary and because while I was happy to trust all other alien races Ashley seemed to hold a rather strong sense of mistrust towards other races.
