Bullet Point Review: Mass Effect (XB360)
What I liked:
Story - The overall story line in ME is amazing and really draws you in. The ending sets up part 2 really well and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
Mako - The Mako is the vehicle you drive around in. Although it needs to control better like say, the Warthog from Halo, it is a really fun buggy to boot around in.
What I didn't like:
Glitchy - ME is full a little graphical bugs. Screen tearing, frame rate issues, and texture pop-in all combine to really annoy the player.
Teammates - Throughout ME you are constantly presented with people/aliens who wanna join your team as you trek through the galaxy. Unfortunately the game really, IMO, doesn't present you with any reason to want to add these other characters to your team, and as such I had the same two girls on my team throughout the entire game.
Sex - It's nothing major, but I totally missed out on the much ado about nothing sex scene. Bummer.
Loading - Like lots of loading screens? Like long loading screens? No? Well that's too bad cause ME has them in spades. No more elevators please!
Side missions - The main storyline missions are really really good. The side missions on the other hand are pretty much useless.
Info - Information in ME is either feast or famine. If you wanna learn about alien races, backstory, etc. you're gonna find heaps and heaps of it...almost too much. On the other hand if you wanna have a tutorial about in-game controls, well you better look elsewhere cause there's next to nothing to help you out. In fact I never used any of the biotic powers in ME cause there's nothing to show you how. Also you can buy various power-ups in the game, but it's really complicated when you try to figure out who can use what.
Summary - Mass Effect is a really good story driven game that has me wanting to return once part 2 ships (though I won't be running out on day one to pick it up). On the other hand ME has alot of little issues that really take away from the game as a whole. I certainly won't be re-playing this game anytime soon.
Overall I give Mass Effect (XB360) a 4 out of 5.
