Overview

Mega Man Xtreme (known in Japan as Rockman X: Cyber Mission) is a side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Capcom for the Game Boy Color on January 11, 2001.
The first of two portable entries of the Mega Man X series, Mega Man Xtreme recreates many elements from the first two titles in the franchise (including bosses, levels, and enemies). The game shares similarities with the portable entries of the original Mega Man series, including multiple sets of bosses (however, they are split into separate difficulty levels, each with their own storyline: Normal Mode for the first four, Hard Mode for the second four, and Xtreme Mode for all eight).
The game is set in the year 21XX, sometime after the events of Mega Man X2. After revisiting the first highway scene from Mega Man X (in a simulated déjà vu sequence), Maverick Hunter Mega Man X learns that a group of mysterious hackers (Techno, Geemel, and Zain) have infiltrated the "Mother Computer" system of the Hunter base and is spreading fake data all over the world (causing chaos). With entrance to the Mother Computer's core digitally shielded by the data of Mavericks previously defeated by X, our hero must dive into cyberspace (with the help of fellow Hunter Zero and Reploid computer genius Middy) to defeat his previous adversaries and restore the core.
The game was later released as a Virtual Console title for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on December 4, 2013, and in North America on May 1, 2014.
