Polygon Has the full scoop on this, apparently a studio called Armature studio which was apparently full of Retro Studios Folks ( the Metroid Prime Guys) were tasked with working on this game from capcom. and it was apparently a 1st person shooter.

I know there will be people that hate this, but i dunno it looks alright, and especially if its retro guys behind it, i would have given it a chance.

Man, just think of the shitstorm that would have ensued if this game had been allowed to live while Legends 3 remained cancelled.

Actually, I remember news of Armature Studios founding and kind of wondered what happened to them. I do know that the studio was founded not long after Pacini and a couple of other Retro Studios employees were "escorted" from the premises (i.e.: They were fired, apparently for making plans for the new company while still Retro employees.)

A Mega Man game in the veins of Metroid Prime sounds extremely appealing to me, but what I have seen in the videos did not impress me all that much. The combat looked great, but Mega Man's new look is abysmal and everything is just too gritty for my taste.

It looks like Mega Man was given the Bomberman: Act Zero treatment.

Haha, that's the first thing I thought too - and it's really stifling my ability to muster up some optimism.

Looks like a pretty cool game that doesn't really need the Mega Man name attached to it to sell.

It looks and sounded interesting. It does definitely have that Bomberman: Act Zero vibe though.

Holy shit that looked pretty sweet. However it looked nothing like Megaman at all in that video, looked more like a generic futuristic shooter. They should have put the Megaman from the American box art in it. Now that would have made it awesome!

Yeah, I love Metroid Prime, but this is not at all what I want from a Mega Man game. Give me dark Souls with Robots!

It just... looks wrong, but also kinda right? I have a difficult time seeing a Mega Man in this form, but we said that about Metroid Prime way back when, right?

The game looks neat and all but it looks like it has nothing at all to do with Mega Man. People would have fucking hated this. Metroid Prime worked because it was the same style of game as Super Metroid in first-person. This Mega Man game looks like an entirely different type of game.

Though I've never been huge on the X games (partly because of lack of exposure) I do like the setup it had, with a robot shouldering the responsibility of being able to think and act freely while being very powerful (even though nothing of this was really mentioned in the actual games). With such a setup for a "dark & gritty" reboot, so long as they didn't go overboard in making it edgy, I think it could have worked.

Also X looks like freaking Casshern, I love it! Even if it had just turned into more of a reskinned Metroid Prime with more Mega Man-y elements I'd have been on board day one.

This looks like it could have been a great offshoot in the vein of Legends: In essence, a terrible "Mega Man" game, but a fantastic game that uses references to various Mega Man lore, or variations thereof.

Everything about that looks really strange knowing the Megaman connection. If it was an original thing I think it would not be so weird.

I could see a game in the vein of Legends working well as a first person shooter. Remember that this series has branched out into turn-based RPG, action-adventure, sports games, and... whatever the hell one might classify Battle Network as, so this could have been interesting.

However, after watching those videos I think the game would have been better served with a lighter hearted tone a la Legends with Metroid Prime-ish dungeons and Legends-like RPG elements (getting money, buying upgrades for weapons and armor and stuff, getting parts for new weapons, etc.)

So what I'm saying is that I would like to see the guys who made Metroid Prime make Mega Man Legends 3. And then Capcom could have my firstborn. He probably would have been a mean little fucker anyways.
