You're put in the seat of a giant mech in a small maze, pit one on one with another mech of a similar armament and the name of the game is to be the last one standing.
That's the gist of Stanley Design Group's offering with Megatron. A DOS technical show piece that demonstrated early polygonal figures in a 3D environment within a First Person view (then referred to as 'Eye of the Beholder Perspective').
Gameplay
Using the control panel in the bottom right of your screen with your mouse, clicking on the directional arrows will navigate you, screen by screen, through the maze environment (think, Myst style navigation). Where the two beige icons on either side of the forward direction fires one of two weapons systems.
The first system is your lasers. They're fast, rapid fire, and do minimal damage. The second system is missiles, which take longer to fire, longer to re-fire, but the damage output is substantial.
Typically in a one on one fight where both members have found each other and begin shooting at the same time, you cannot win a fight by just spamming one of the weapons. You can, should, and do mix up the firing of both weapons. Only by doing so, maximizes your damage output, and will mark you the clear victor.
