I am excited to see Rising hit the PC. BTW - direct all please direct PC MGR questions to @konami. :)
Metal Gear Rising coming to PC
Now I'm wondering if it'll be made inhouse or if it'll be outsourced to a company that's good with PC ports, considering that Platinum never had a PC version of a game before.
If it's actually a thing, it'll almost certainly be outsourced to the cheapest port dev that they can find.
Hopefully we get a really solid port of Platinum's engine so that all of their games can make the trip over to Steam.
I think they finally recognized the good investment it would be after seeing other esoteric Japanese games sell incredibly well at big discounts, à la Dark Souls. The power of digital sales is not to be underestimated, and they see that it'll pay dividends. Hopefully it's a solid port, though.
I found the game frustrating in many spots since I played it immediately after DMC, but I would totally go back again for the visual panache.
I've played a ton of DmC, but reading about the combo system in Rising game (specifically, no dodge rolls and potentially endless combos) makes it very obvious that this game is going to give me a lot of trouble, mechanics-wise. God damn, though, do I ever want to play it.
This game is so great. It manages to simultaneously be one of the dumbest games ever made (but good, MGS dumb!), and honestly, one of the smartest games to come out recently. Some of the codec conversations in the game explore some pretty advanced stuff like Von Neumann architecture, drawbacks to quantum computing and AI in general, etc. This in a game where Raiden disguises himself as a mariachi to blend in with the locals in Mexico.
It may play a lot differently, but it's up there with MGS 3 as one of the best game in the series and it's my personal GOTY.
