    You're not missing much, I think it's the worst one. Can't decide if 3 > 1 > 2 > 4 or 1 > 3 > 2 > 4, probably the latter.

    Octocamo is lame.

    It's my second favorite. 1>4>3>Peace Walker>MG/MG2>2>PO

Yeah maybe when the source is from a more credible place than a random New Zealand retailer, I'll pay attention.

I could be wrong but this doesn't seem real to me.

@TooWalrus: I thought that after it moved to the original PlayStation with the first Solid, it stayed a PlayStation-exclusive brand from then on other than like, Twin Snakes and Snake being in Brawl. Then again, I'm not a Metal Gear fan at all, so I'm not 100% sure.

@whatisdelicious: I would agree with you that MGS is identified closer with the Sony consoles but in all honesty all but a minority have been ported, re-made and re-released on other consoles in the past. Hell one of my favourite games in the series was the Game Boy Color MGS.

@whatisdelicious: the original MGS was ported to PC by Microsoft, then MGS2: Substance was released for Xbox, also those HD remasterings of 2, 3 and PW came out recently for 360.

@Jabbawocky: Also 1 got ported to the gameboy, and remade as twin snakes for gamecube.

4 might get remade or super HD'd 10 years from now on some other platform, but this gen -- I doubt it goes anywhere else. I think it's just way too late for enough people to care without doing something crazy to it.

I remember that PC Microsoft MGS port. I was and still am a PC gamer first, so that was the first time I played through MGS after spending an afternoon at a buddy's house and watching him play like 4 hours of the PlayStation version on a TV. That PC port was hella weird because as I recall, it had a "Very Easy" difficulty that the PlayStation version didn't have and in it, Snake had a silenced SMG with infinite ammo at all times. Kind of overkill. I also think I tried to go back years later and none of the cool real life movies ran if you had the screen resolution set at anything higher than 800x600.

I was young and dumb at the time, but now since I have a PS3, I've got the PSN Classic version of MGS so I can play it the way god (Hideo Kojima) intended. On a PS3 emulating a PS1, of course.

@Cincaid: If I'm not mistaken (it' been yeeeeears since I played MGS4, and I never beat it at that), I believe the reason it'd be so mindblowing for it to release on 360 is because there was actual Sony product placement in the game that would likely have to be altered or removed for it to release on another company's game console. And as others have pointed out, that's likely waaaaay more work than Konami would be willing to do for a port of an old game.

Well Splinter Cell finally expanded out of exclusivity, wouldn't be surprised if MGS did the same eventually.

@TooWalrus: If we look at all the Metal Gear's very few haven't lost exclusivity.

Metal Gear: Released on MSX2 then ported to NES, several other PCs and finally included in every copy of MGS3: Subsistence

Metal Gear 2: Released on MSX2 then released in every copy of MGS3: Subsistence

MGS: Released on PS1 later ported to PC and remade for Gamecube

MGS (Game Boy Color): Remains exclusive

MGS2: Released on PS2, later released on Xbox and PC and in the Multi-platform HD collections.

MGS3: Released on PS2, later ported to 3DS and released in the mutli-platform HD collections.

Twin Snakes: Remake of original MGS remains exclusive to Gamecube.

MG Acid: Originally released on PSP and later a cut-down version released on mobiles

    Acid 2: Same as Acid

Portable Ops (and its expansion Plus): Remains Sony exclusive

    MGS 4: PS3 exclusive

Peace Walker: Originally PSP then released with the HD Collection

Revengeance: Is going to be multi-platform

Ground Zero: Will more than likely be multi platform

Of course. There's no shelf life on it. When I get around to getting a PS3 (or 4, at this point), MGS4 will be the first thing I play.

Um...the only exclusive Splinter Cell was Conviction. And that was a PC/360 fake exclusive. All the others had PS2/GameCube releases, etc.

Also, Metal Gear's no stranger to other consoles, though it's totally a Sony property in my mind. Twin Snakes was a weird, weird game and that GBC spinoff is very different...kinda cool though. I remember MGS2 being problematic from a technical perspective on the Xbox.

Get your facts right: MGS 1 was remade for Gamecube, but the Gameboy (Color) Metal Gear was a different game. A very, very good one, I might add. People should play it, as long as they can deal with Gameboy Color graphics.
