It was bad enough when charges of plagiarism made Konami strip the Metal Gear Solid theme from MGS4, but I just hope they leave it in for this collection. Anyone heard anything one way or the other?

I doubt they would change it because there were no lawsuits, and in my opinion, the music wasn't near similar enough to be deemed plagiarism. What's done is done, even though they changed the theme in MGS4, you can still get the regular theme for your in-game IPod.

The MGS theme is extremely similar to some Russian music composed in 1974. While at first I thought the notion that Konami ripped off some little known Cold War era classical music from behind the Iron Curtain laughable, the comparison is pretty damning. It would have to have been one hell of a coincidence.

    Good tune, in any case.

I like your avatar as well as both the music from the GBU and MGS.

In my opinion, Konami has to stick by their man, Tappy. Seriously, Tappy's theme is so iconic that re-releasing these games without it would be tantamount to a butchering, and I for one would not purchase the collection without Tappy's ORIGINAL work intact.

This should be one of the driving issues in gaming at the moment, but all we get in our headlines from gaming press these days is some bullshit about a fucking review score. Seriously.

Steven Poole, eminent videogame columnist, author and composer, puts it far more eloquently than I ever could.

I wonder why the Speed guy never gave Konami the business?
