Was thinking of picking up the definitive version and I was wondering if the FOB is as annoying as it could get during the first 6 months of it's release?

Are you talking about having your online FOB attacked? I played this game on PC a few months ago, putting over a hundred hours into it, and was never once attacked. I never encountered any hassle involving the FOB stuff. YMMV

Same here, PC with 160 hours played, tutorial was the only time i dealt with FOBs.
