Basically, starting from now there's a six month date for PC where you have to spend your MB coins

Man, I thought it was shitty that Club Nintendo made your "Club Nintendo coins" disappear within 2 years of obtaining them, but I guess that's how a lot of loyalty programs work.

It seems way more fucked that a microtransaction currency has any kind of expiration date.

What? So dumb. Is this going to be six months from a start date or six months from when you actually got them? Not that I have much to spend them on, I guess. Pretty far from a second FOB.

About two or three weeks ago I had finally gathered up enough MB coins to buy a third FOB (My progress slowed down halfway through, still playing it though!)

But if I had at any point lost some of those damn coins in the times I wasn't playing/ using the coins I would've been Pissed!

Is this a common practice with loyalty systems like this?

I'm going to guess that this is very common in the F2P hellscape that is the Asian market.

It seems to imply that the coins (on some platforms and regions only?) have always had this expiration date and that idea was buried somewhere in the EULA or something, and since seemingly no one was aware of this, Konami reset the expiry dates as if everybody just bought/earned all of their MB coins a day or two ago. But from here on out, it appears each batch of MB coins you buy/earn will be earmarked with the date you bought/earned them and expire 6 months from that date.

Or at least, I'm hoping that they're all earmarked individually. If they just do complete MB coin wipes every 6 months, that would be ridiculous.
